As many of you may know, I lost my mom to breast cancer in 2010. Later that year, my family started Friends of Marlene, a breast cancer foundation in her honor. After continued growth and the want to expand, we teamed up with Gilda's Club Chicago to support people as well as families that are impacted with any type of cancer. Gilda's works to complete cancer care plans by providing essential, but often overlooked, services including support groups, counseling, education and healthy lifestyle programs. This year I signed up to run 4 races (BoA Shamrock Shuffle, Soldier Field 10 miler, BoA Half Marathon, Lifetime 5k, and the BoA Chicago Marathon) to raise money for Gilda's Club of Chicago. I am setting my goal to raise $3000 by the Full Marathon on October 8th, 2023! The Heart of Gilda's (Mission Statement) Gilda's Club is a place where anyone whose life has been impacted by any type of cancer, as well as their families and friends, can feel they are part of a welcoming community of support.
