A Message From Emily Schladt
In September 2024, I lost my dad after his 15-month battle with Glioblastoma, a stage four brain cancer. Despite the diagnosis, he never let it define him or stop him from living life on his terms. He was an avid runner, and now, I’m channeling his strength and resilience by running the Chicago Marathon in his honor. I’ve never been a runner, but I’m determined to find my own passion for it as a way to stay connected to him and carry his legacy forward.
I’m running to raise funds for Gilda’s Club Chicago, a community that provides emotional support to anyone touched by cancer—patients, caregivers, family, and friends. My dad’s fight against cancer showed me how important it is to live with strength and purpose, and by supporting Gilda’s Club, I hope to help others battling cancer live the lives they want to live, just like my dad did. Please consider supporting me in this journey, as every donation makes a difference.
