A Message From Julia Rubano
I'm thrilled to be running the Chicago marathon in honor of my maternal grandmother, Helena, who passed away while battling breast cancer. Her husband and my grandpa, Henryk, also fought renal cancer. They were married 33 years—the same age I’ll be when I run my first marathon.
Like so many families, mine has been deeply impacted by cancer, and I’m excited to honor their memories by raising money and awareness for Team Gilda.
Running this marathon is not just a personal milestone, but a way to celebrate resilience, community, and the power of coming together for a cause that means so much to me. Since moving to Chicago, the running community has been an incredible source of support and joy, and I can’t wait to celebrate this amazing city alongside so many of the special people who've made it feel like home!
