A Message From Myles Wright

Hi, my name is Myles Wright and I'm honored to be running for Gilda's Club in the 2025 Chicago Marathon! I work at Northwestern Medicine here in Chicago as the Program Director over Outpatient Oncology and we partner extensively with Gilda's Club to provide supportive services for the cancer patients we treat. Running the marathon is a small way for me to help give back to the immense, selfless, and important work that those at Gilda's Club do on a daily basis; it is truly an incredible organization. This will be my first time ever running a marathon and it is uniquely special to me because of recent events in my family. My father was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2022 and it eventually spread to his liver and lungs. My father is who had the strongest influence in my life to be healthy, exercise, and take care of myself; he ran 13 marathons throughout his life, including Chicago. He passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 at home surrounded by his loved ones. I'm running to honor him; I felt compelled in his final months of life to finally sign up for a marathon. When I told him, he was so proud and happy; I wish he could be there to watch me run, but I know he'll still be there with me in spirit, every step of the way. Thank you to anyone that donates! I'm so excited and have already started my training... maybe I'll even beat my dad's time of 3:20, but that's probably a longshot!
