Hi everyone! As some of you know, I am running the Chicago Marathon this year! This is my first ever marathon (on my 30th birthday) and super excited to start training soon! This marathon is not only my first but also very important to me. I am running with Gilda's Club Chicago! They help support and provide resources to everyone who has been impacted by cancer. I'm happy to be with running with a non-profit organization that not only helps those with cancer but also the ones impacted. Gilda's Club supports, educates, and empowers cancer patients and their families - so no one has to face cancer alone. This organization is so special to me because when my aunt passed away back in 2017, it was the first time my family and I were impacted by cancer. We had to learn and support each other through that difficult time. Growing up with immigrant parents, and English being their second language, we weren't as informed on the impact of cancer has on a family or where to even look for support/resources. I'm glad that there are organizations like Gilda's Club that help everyone and anyone impacted! My family and I have lost some of our loved ones due to cancer and currently fighting with cancer. Running for my lost loved ones (Tia Amparo, Mama Lupe, My sister in laws Uncle Paul, Rosa) Thank you so much again and I appreciate everyone who donates or even shares!
