A Message From Leon Fornelli

In October 2025, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes and taking on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon—but I won’t be running alone. I’ll be running with Team Gilda, and every step I take will be in honor of someone who shaped my life forever: my mom. When I was just 18, I lost my mother to ovarian cancer. It was one of the most painful chapters of my life—a time filled with fear, sadness, and uncertainty. But even in those darkest moments, there was a place that brought us light: Gilda's Club. I remember walking through the doors of the Gilda Radner House with my mom and grandmother. It wasn’t just a building—it was a home. A safe haven where laughter was encouraged, tears were understood, and no one had to face cancer alone. My mom found comfort, strength, and a sense of community there. So did we. Now, years later, I have the incredible honor of running to support that very same place that supported us. Team Gilda runs to ensure that no one facing cancer—whether they are diagnosed, caregiving, or grieving—is ever without a compassionate community. This cause is deeply personal to me, and it would mean the world if you would consider supporting my journey. Your donation will help Gilda's Club continue to offer free programs, resources, and emotional support to individuals and families impacted by cancer. Every mile I run is for my mom, and for all the families like ours who need a little light in their darkest days. Thank you for helping me carry that light forward and supporting a great cause like Gilda's Club Chicago! With gratitude and hope, Leon Fornelli
