A Message From Annie Psenka
For those of you who are new here, welcome! For those who donated and supported me last year, welcome back and thank you so much. My feet and I truly couldn’t have done it without you. ❤️
Some of you may be wondering why I would willingly run 26.2 miles again. Honestly, your guess, and probably a psychologist’s, is better than mine. What I do know is that every mile I ran for Gilda’s Club filled me with pride, even when my body felt like it was rejecting itself.
I’m running for Gilda’s Club because no one should ever have to fight cancer alone. After watching my mom (my greatest hero and motivator) kick breast cancer’s butt, I saw firsthand how much of a difference it made to have amazing care and support from her healthcare team, friends, and family. I was also reminded that while laughter may not cure cancer, it definitely makes the hard days easier.
Every mile, every sore muscle, and every toenail (which has just finally grown back) is for people who need that same kind of community and hope.
Your support keeps me moving and, more importantly, helps others face the hardest race of all. Any donation truly means the world to me and helps Gilda’s Club continue providing free support to individuals and families impacted by cancer.
To show my appreciation this year, I wanted to offer some fun incentives along the way. So, donate at your own risk? As I continue to think of different ways to express my gratitude, here are a few to start things off!
Smaller donations between $1 and $25 require minimal effort and offer high entertainment value:
- Your name can be written on my race bib or shoe. Please leave a message if you’d like me to run for someone who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis. There will be a special spot dedicated to these individuals.
- A song (any song you prefer) can be added to my running playlist.
- I promise to never complain about my toenails again.
Donations between $50 and $100 may require me to know your home address if necessary. Rest assured, I will not sell it to solicitors.
- You will receive one of the following: a potentially comical photo of me running with a personalized handwritten message or love letter, or a sticker, patch, or knick-knack of my choosing.
High-tier donations between $150 and $250 may cause me to regret this:
- I will run a mile dedicated to you and provide a dramatic recap of it.
- Any (unhinged or not) message of your choice can be written on a large poster that will be held up by my loved ones during the race.
- You will receive merchandise of some kind.
Extra credit donations exceeding $250 are still pending. Stay tuned for more details.
- A shot of liquor during the race (dedicated and recorded for you). A donation of more than $300 is required for Malort or Fireball.
