Oncology nursing has been at the core of who I am for the last nine years. During that time, I’ve been a 'tear dryer' a 'hope giver' for many facing the daunting challenge of a cancer diagnosis. But I’ve learned that it takes much more than a nurse with a smile walking into the room to navigate this journey—it truly takes a village. Beyond medical care, patients and families need an infinite amount of holistic support to trudge through their hardest days. Some of my favorite moments are witnessing the 'sparks of joy' these resources provide: a six-year-old leukemia patient lighting up during art therapy or a 45-year-old mother with breast cancer finally feeling seen through counseling. I am running the 2026 Chicago Marathon for Team Gilda because they provide vital resources these families deserve. Every donation helps build that village. Thank you in advance for the support!!!
