Here I go again. I’ve been training for the Chicago Marathon and I’m honored to be running for Team Gilda. I first became acquainted with Gilda’s Club when I volunteered at the Pittsburgh chapter while attending Duquesne University (a very long time ago 🙃). Gilda’s Club is an organization that provides free emotional and social support to anyone affected by cancer - patients, families, and friends. Gilda‘s club is named for Gilda Radner, the SNL cast member who battled ovarian cancer. She wanted to build a place that fostered connection between those who are dealing with cancer in one way or another. I, like many, have also been touched by cancer. My father beat head and neck cancer a few years ago and it was scary for all of us. Thankfully, our family always felt supported by each other and friends. I recently lost my soul dog to lung cancer after she beat brain cancer a few years ago! I can’t imagine going through either of these experiences alone. Gilda’s Club will always hold a special place in my heart. Please consider supporting me as I run toward my goal of raising $2500 for this charity!
