A Message From TreShonda Sheffey

I’m happy to support Gilda’s Club Chicago as I run the 2026 Chicago Marathon and raise $2,500 for individuals and families impacted by cancer. At the beginning of 2023, after losing my grandmother to cancer and experiencing other personal losses, I turned to running as an outlet for my grief and challenged myself to complete a half marathon. I had no idea that decision would begin my race journey — two half marathons and now, my fourth marathon. Along the way, my family experienced another heartbreaking loss when my grandfather passed away from cancer. These experiences have shown me how deeply cancer affects not only the person diagnosed, but also the loved ones who walk alongside them. In the last few years of running, I’m especially excited to finally run for something bigger than myself. Gilda’s Club Chicago provides free programs, resources, connection, and community to people navigating cancer, helping ensure that no one faces it alone. I believe that even during life’s most difficult moments, people deserve opportunities to experience joy, find connection, and live full, meaningful lives. Every mile I run, and every dollar raised will help support this important work. If you’re able, I’d be so grateful for your support as I work toward my $2,500 goal—whether through a donation, sharing this page, or cheering me on along the way. Thank you for being part of this journey! ❤️🏃🏾‍♀️
