A Message From Catherine Dosch
It was a cold rainy day in Eugene, OR. I was a senior in college and I was driving home from the Knight library. I looked out the window and saw a girl around my age going for a run. She looked unbothered and happy. I thought, "I want to be able to do that. I want to be able to walk out my door and run."
I started running my senior year of college and had no idea how much it would positively impact my life. I have always struggled with letting out my nervous energy and I can't believe it took me until the age of 23 to figure out a way to release all of it. I love everything about running, and most importantly I love how it challenges me.
Some may think I am crazy for wanting to run a marathon, but if pain wasn't involved, most people would opt out. To quote Haruki Murakami, "It is precisely because we want to overcome that pain, that we can get the feeling, through the process, of really being alive. "Running makes me feel alive and I want to put myself through the ultimate running challenge, a marathon.
As a tribute to all who have lost a loved one from Cancer, I am working with Team Gilda. Cancer's reach extends far beyond individual diagnosis-it touches us all. Each diagnosis is not just a statistic but a story of courage, resilience, and the unwavering human spirit. I am running on behalf of everyone who has been impacted. Every step that I take during the marathon is a testament to the strength and resilience of those facing cancer.
Your donation, no matter the amount, will directly contribute to the invaluable programs and services offered by Team Gilda.
